Rev. Courtland J. Pitt began his ministry as an Associate Minister at New St. Paul Tabernacle Church of God in Christ. During that time he served as the Praise Team Leader, Sunday School Teacher, Counselor in Pastoral Care and Youth Pastor. He earned his undergraduate degree in Community Development from Central Michigan University.
In 2006 Rev. Pitt joined Hope United Methodist Church serving as the Athletic Director teaching health and wellness classes to members of all ages. Upon completion of his Masters of Divinity Degree from Ashland Theological Seminary in 2009, he began serving as the Children and Youth Pastor, Clergy Leader of the Missions Ministry, the United Methodist Men of Hope and the Transportation Ministry. As a result of his leadership and faithful service to the members of Hope, Rev. Pitt was promoted to the position of Associate Pastor over Pastoral Care. & Counseling.
He obtained a Professional Development Diploma from Ira C. Eaker College, USAF Chaplain Service Institute, at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama in 2006. For the past 10 years Rev. Pitt has served our country as a Chaplain in the Air Force Reserves travelling to the Air Force National Guard base in Battle Creek. And for his faithful service, Rev. Courtland Pitt was recognized with the Michigan Broadsword Service Medal; and promoted to the rank of “Captain” in 2013.
In July 2014, Rev. Courtland Pitt joined the Empowerment Church Ministry as an Associate Pastor leading the Pastoral Care Office, Clergy Leader of the Worship, Logistics, and Security Ministries, Director of the Children’s Choir and Clergy Advisor for our Children & Youth Ministries. He and his wife, Phyllis, are blessed with one son, Courtland, Jr., also known as “CJ”.
Rev. Pitt is a committed and dedicated servant for God and His people.
He believes that the root to happiness is to love everyone the same way God loves us.
He brings humility and sensitivity to the Word of God as he always remembers his humble beginnings.
He believes there is nothing too hard for God and that all things are possible, if we believe. (Jeremiah 32:27)
His heart’s desire is for everyone to experience the presence of God in their lives.
